Sheer-plod

A friend just commented that my user name 'sounds a bit sad'. I was inspired to choose this name from the poem Windhover by Gerard Manley Hopkins. I know this is a love poem (chastely dedicated to the Lord) but the last verse really speaks to me of the humble beauty of a plough sparking embers off a flint and reminds me of how beauty arises through hard work (while a bird soars overhead). So I'm inspired by that. I've submitted my first deviations today; these are the digital paintings and sketches that I am most happy with from 2017. Obviously I still have a long way to go before I produce decent art, but I am somewhat happy with these. Key things I have learnt this year include letting go of Adobe Illustrate and Animate as it is such a chore for a novice and part-timer like me to get through all the commands. Simply drawing a line can be so hard! I loved the concept of vector art but as I'm also just learning to draw that add a huge burden.
